Sharing files with Globus
To share files with others through Globus, create what is called a Guest Collection in one of your ORC file spaces. Guest collections share a folder in a user or group space, or even scatch space.
Be prudent and DO NOT SHARE YOUR HOME DIRECTORY
Create a guest collection
1. Click on the directory you want to share.
- Definitely do not share your home directory. You never know what someone could add to your .bashrc file (like "timeout 5 curl parrot.live"). Keep your files safe!
2. Click on "Share" in the right-hand pane.
- Give consent for Globus to manage collections on the BYU Office of Research Computing endpoint if required.
3. Add the directory to a new Guest Collection or create a new one if required.4. Add users or groups of users to your Collection. Make sure to take note of the Permissions checkboxes.
5. Adding the user or the group should send that user or those users an email with a link that they can use to access the new Collection.
See https://docs.globus.org/how-to/share-files/ for more information.
